McCallie used timely hitting and rally killing defensive plays to sweep a baseball doubleheader from visiting Brentwood Academy, 5-4 and 3-0, Saturday.
Game One - McCallie 5, B.A. 4 - In the opener, McCallie rallied for four runs in the sixth to win 5-4 and Drew Vaughn gained the win in relief.
In the four-run sixth, Tyson Buchanan had a two run single to tie the game, and later scored what proved to be the winning run on a Thomas Boals single.
Game Two - McCallie 3 B.A. 0 - Tyler Payne tossed a complete game shutout and Christian Burnett had a pair of RBI singles and John Hennan also had an RBI single for the win.
Payne struck out four and allowed five hits as McCallie improves to 42-6 with a 15-game win streak intact.
Good Defense - Game 2: McCallie used a double play in the third to double up a runner on second with no out ... in the seventh, B.A. had two on and one out ... McCallie ended the game in style as third baseman Spencer Morgan made a diving stop of a ground ball and threw to first baseman Winston Widener who dug the throw out of the dirt for the game-ending out.
