PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. --- There were positives and negatives in the Chattanooga Mocs ninth-place finish in the Web.com Intercollegiate at Marsh Landing Country Club. Jordan Britt (Chattanooga) and Emily McLennan (Queensland, Australia) each tallied top 10’s as the squad shot 308 to end the event at 885.

Britt posted her fifth top five of 2013-14 shooting a career-low four-under par 212 finishing fourth.

She bested her previous best of 217 set in October at the Starmount Fall Classic. McLennan wound up tied for eighth at even-par 216. That is also her top 54-hole total.

The team’s 885 was just a single stroke out of sixth where a three-way tie knotted Minnesota, Louisville and Missouri. Maryland was another shot ahead in fifth, while 17th-ranked UCF stood in fourth at 882. Florida State ran away with the title at 851 with East Carolina in second at 875.
FSU’s Matilda Castren won medalist honors at minus 12 (204). She topped teammate Alex Milan and Maryland’s Juliet Vongphoumy by four as the duo scored eight-under 208’s.

Britt and McLennan shot 75 and 77, respectively, in today’s final 18. The trio of Isabella Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia), Agathe Sauzon (Valence, France) and Porsche Campbell (Vancouver, Canada) each carded 78’s.

Chattanooga begins championship season this Sunday at the Southern Conference Championship. The four-time defending champ plays 18 holes per day from Sunday through Tuesday at Moss Creek Club in Hilton Head, S.C.
