The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has arrested a lieutenant for the Knox County Sheriff’s Office in connection to a rape investigation.

On Tuesday afternoon, a Knox County Grand Jury indicted Dennis Mills, Jr., on a set of criminal counts, including rape of a child, statutory rape by an authority figure, and incest. Authorities arrested him without incident in Knoxville this Tuesday evening.

The TBI began investigating the 43-year-old Powell resident on March 4, at the request of District Attorney General Randy Nichols. His office, along with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, assisted in the investigation. Earlier, the Sheriff’s Office placed Mills on administrative leave without pay.

Mills was being held in the Knox County Sheriff’s Detention Facility on a $250,000 bond.
