Michael Meyer

HVAC Excellence announced that Michael Meyer of Georgia Northwestern Technical College (Rock Spring) is only one of two U.S. HVAC instructors to recently receive the title of C.M.H.E., Certified Master HVACR Educator.

This is a tremendous honor as it confirms that he is a master of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration education. An HVACR program is only as good as good as the instructor leading the program. Mr. Meyer, having successfully passed the seven required examinations, has been awarded the highest credential that can be conferred upon an HVACR educator by HVAC Excellence.

When a seasoned professional transitions into the world of education, he is expected to have a better understanding of HVACR theory, application, and technology and be able to share that knowledge with the students they will serve. To enable instructors to verify the depth of their knowledge and ability to relate subject matter effectively, HVAC Excellence developed specialized educator credentialing exams, Certified Subject Matter Educator.

These exams validate that an instructor has mastered specific subject matter to effectively teach the competencies in their curriculum. In order to earn the title of Certified Master HVACR Educator, "CMHE," an instructor needs to successfully pass six CSME examinations with a score of 80% or higher including the: electrical, air conditioning, light commercial air conditioning, light commercial refrigeration, electric heat, and one of the following (gas heat, oil heat or heat pumps). Additionally, an instructor must pass the Capstone exam which covers technical education methodologies, principles, and practices which attest to their pedagogical skills.
