Sunday Breakfast Fundraiser Sunday At Brainerd Presbyterian

A Simple Sunday Breakfast fundraiser will be held at Brainerd Presbyterian Church, 1624 Jenkins Road, Sunday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., hosted by The Way Sunday School Class. A ll proceeds will go to construct the new building.

Saturday,  May 31, the Uganda Children's Project Charity Golf Tournament will be held at Brown Acres Golf Course from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All proceeds will be for Ugandan children's shoes and school fees. Call the church office at 899-2424 for information or to register.

An underground fire closed several downtown streets late Saturday afternoon. At approximately 5:20 p.m., the Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a reported fire in a man-hole at the corner of Chestnut Street and W. 8th Street. Monserrate Ferrer, the 16-year-old who was shot in East Ridge on Friday, has died. Investigators will meet early next week with the Hamilton County District Attorney's Office to discuss the case.
