SUV Hits Large Bear In Red Bank; 200-Pound Young Male Has To Be Put Down

An SUV struck a large black bear in Red Bank late Monday night.

The badly-injured bear was tracked down by a TWRA wildlife officer and his K-9 and had to be put down.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. on Dayton Boulevard near the Red Bank Police Department.

The bear left a bloody track before it was located in tall grass near a house.

The young male bear weighed about 200 pounds.

Another bear was hit and killed by a vehicle in Red Bank about a year ago.
