As a result of an investigation of the large number of dogs that were found Wednesday at a residence on Candies Creek Road SW, and after consulting the District Attorney’s Office, a warrant for one count of cruelty to animals was issued Thursday evening.

Rebecca Van Meter, 56, was arrested and processed at the Bradley County jail. She is free after posting a $500 bond.

Officials of the Bradley County SPCA on Wednesday afternoon responded to a call involving some 200 dogs. It turned out there were 237 dogs in deplorable conditions at what was termed a "puppy mill."
