Ready To See Education Commissioner Kevin Huffman Go

  • Thursday, June 19, 2014

I was pleased to see that a group of legislators are asking our governor to remove Education Commissioner Kevin Huffman.

Although the legislators want to end the Common Core, I am equally concerned about another issue related to Huffman, who has a long history with Teach for America.

Huffman's ex-wife, Michelle Rhee, also connected to teach for America has, through StudentsFirst PAC, donated huge amounts of money to the candidacies of Metro Nashville School Board candidates and Tennessee legislators. Rhee gave over $112,000 to one Memphis legislator alone. You have to wonder why?

It was done to create a favorable environment for Teach for America and Common Core in Tennessee.

Since Huffman and Rhee have brought these kinds of shenanigans to Tennessee it makes me suspect of everything they propose to do.

Again congratulations to the legislators demanding Huffman's exit, stage left.
