Gregory Cooper
Gregory Leon High Cooper, 67, died on Monday, August 4, 2014 at a local hospital surrounded by his family.
Born June 3, 1947, Gregory was a graduate of Howard High School. He served his country following graduation in the United States Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged with distinction as a corporal receiving several medals and commendations.
Gregory retired from NHC Chattanooga as a CAN receiving various recognitions on the job.
Gregory had received his most precious gift, Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn Bester Cooper and Robert Leon High.
He is survived by his devoted sister and caregiver, Deborah “Sista” Walker; brothers, Dewayne Cooper, Harvey “Don” (Regina) Cooper, all of Chattanooga; nephew, Demetrius Walker; nieces, Dominique (Bernard) Blackburn, Dechante’ Williams; several great-nephews, nieces and cousins; devoted and loving friend, Brenda Carr; childhood friend, Rose Mary Gantt Porter; devoted cousins, Larry “Bear” High, Robert High and Randall High.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, Aug. 15, at 10 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Minister Larry High officiating.
The body will lie in state after noon on Thursday, Aug. 14, and the family will receive friends from 6–7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
