Chairman Jim Lewis announces the monthly Meeting of the Marion County Democratic Party to be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. (CST) at Marion County Commission Building, 5520 Hwy. 41, Jasper, Tn.                          

The agenda will include a short meeting to update raffle ticket sales and a MCDP Lawnmower Raffle

Everyone is welcome.  Light refreshments will be served beginning at 9:30 a.

Only 2 Bradley County Commissioners Support 30-Cent Wheel Tax

After a lengthy debate, only two members of the Bradley County Commission voted in favor of a 30-cent wheel tax on Monday night. The measure needed 10 votes to pass. Several commissioners said a wheel tax would have certainly brought on a petition for a referendum and then defeat at the polls. Ringgold Woman Killed In Foley, Ala., Wreck

A Ringgold woman died from injuries she sustained in a two-car wreck at Foley, Ala., on Friday night, and several others from Chattanooga were injured. The victim was Sharon Shields, 56, a former TVA employee. The accident happened on U.S. 98 outside the grounds of a hot air balloon festival.
