Truck With Load Of Hay Catches Fire; 8900 Block Of Hixson Pike Closed Several Hours

The 8900 block of Hixson Pike will  be closed to traffic for the next several hours due to a truck fire loaded with hay, authorities said shortly after 4 p.m.

At approximately 1:35 p.m. the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a truck hauling a full load of hay on fire and traveling northbound on Hixson Pike.  Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department was notified and responded to the 8900 block of Hixson Pike where deputies  located the truck.  DBVFD advised it appeared  a malfunction occurred with a tire and wheel of the 2000 Chevrolet 3500 Truck that sparked the fire.

Hixson Pike will be closed to traffic until Hamilton County Highway Department can respond to clear the roadway of the load of hay.  Information relayed to the Sheriff’s Office was the road would not be open to traffic again until approximately 6 p.m.
