Angry Congressman - And Response (2)

Friday, August 8, 2014

An open letter to Congressman Chuck Fleischmann:

Sir, 49.2 percent of voters in yesterday’s primary apparently disapprove of the job you are currently doing. That should be some kind of a wake up call.

You ran a negative campaign with no real word on what you were doing or would do for the 3rd District. Myself and several family members personally witnessed you at multiple campaign events and polling places.

You are truly an angry Congressman. Your shouts of “I am your Congressman” seemed both arrogant and defensive. Almost a “how dare anyone run against me or question me” comment. Your negative attacks on Weston Wamp convinced just enough voters to get you re-elected.

I hope that you will look at the results, wake up and smell the coffee, and do a better job for this district than you have done. Otherwise, it may be more than 49.2 percent in two years.

Dear Mr. Thomas,

Regarding your open letter to Congressman Chuck Fleischmann, I wholeheartedly agree. That anger is a concern. We all have a right to question, we all have a right to differ in opinions and ideas.

Any congressperson has a duty to treat people in their district with respect and decency no matter if they have an opposing view. I would be discomfited to have a congressperson that I agreed with lock step to so crudely treat those who object or criticize.

There is certainly room for Congressman Fleischmann to work on his approachability.

Apparently there is something I missed during this past election. But it seems others are angry besides the congressman. I guess I am angry also because it seems a lot of people have no problem with a candidate secretly recording a conversation in a man's home and then using it in the campaign without his permission to tape and/or to use a private conversation.

It seems today most people run for office on a platform of vote for me because they are bad and not vote for me because this is what I plan to try to accomplish if elected. Half truths and outright lies are the rule of the day from the president down to local elections and we the people don't expect them to be any different.

Forgetting Our Presidents' Birthdays

Surely I'm not the only one who noticed today's date this morning and immediately thought, "Hey, it's Abraham Lincoln's birthday!"  Honest Abe was born 207 years ago today--as was Charles Darwin.  When I was a kid in school, Feb. 12 was an annual and much anticipated holiday, Abraham Lincoln's birthday, a no-school day, and we certainly knew and understood who it was ... Red Bank Rolls To Region 2-A/AA Mat Title With Ease

Shane Turner has been waiting a long time for this year's wrestling season to get here.
