Robin Keef
Robin Huron Keef, 54, of Chattanooga, died on Saturday, August 31, 2014 at her home, with her loving husband and mother-in-law by her side.
A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Robin graduated from Red Bank High School in 1978 and from Baroness Erlanger Hospital School of Nursing, Summa Cum laude, in 1987. She worked in the ER at Erlanger for many years.
Rescue of animals was her passion, and in 2000, Robin started the Critter Magazine to help homeless animals find their lifelong home. In 2003, she was appointed by the Chattanooga City Council for the new animal task force. It was this that resulted in McKamey Animal Shelter. Also in 2003, she was frequently seen on Channel 9, trying to find loving homes for homeless animals.
Robin was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease in 2006. This has been an eight-year battle of slowly slipping away. We appreciate the sitter, Brandi Dowdy, who has been a loyal, loving and most caring helper of Robin’s last year. Thanks to Hospice of Chattanooga for their excellent support through this horrible disease.
Preceded in death by her father and mother, Grant and Betty Huron, Robin is survived her husband, James (Chuck) Keef; brothers, Duncan (Deb) Huron, Jefferson, Ga., and David Huron and mother-in-law, Saundra Keef.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the McKamey Animal Shelter would be appreciated.
A private family burial will be at a later date.
