A 22-year-old Winchester, Tn. man, who officials said evaded multiple police departments for more than 24 hours, is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 3 in Sequatchie County Circuit Court.

Samuel Westerfield, who fled into the woods after he was spotted with a female accomplice on Signal Mountain in a stolen car early Saturday morning, turned himself in to Sequatchie authorities Sunday afternoon.

On Oct. 3 in Dunlap, the Franklin County man will be arraigned on charges of attempted aggravated robbery, theft of property over $1,000, evading arrest, resisting arrest and possession of a prohibited weapon by a convicted felon, according to the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Department.

His alleged accomplice, 23-year-old Shauna Lauren Tate of Dunlap, who officials say will be arraigned on the same day as Westerfield, is accused of theft of property over $1,000 and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The man who allegedly helped Westerfield elude police, 21-year-old Cody Scott Johnson of Brown’s Chapel Road on Signal Mountain, remains at large, authorities said.

According to Chief Randall Lockhart of the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Department, Westerfield also is wanted on outstanding warrants in both Marion and Franklin counties.

Johnson, who is wanted for theft of property over $10,000, allegedly used a 2011 maroon Nissan four-door sedan he stole from his grandmother to pick up Westerfield and help him get away from police. The Nissan sedan later was abandoned at Northgate Mall, where it was found by authorities..

The charges against Ms. Tate and Westerfield grow out of an incident around 6:15 a.m. Saturday, when Sequatchie County deputies were dispatched to Big Fork Road on Signal Mountain to investigate reports that a different stolen vehicle was parked at the end of the road.

According to reports, that car had been reported stolen earlier that day in Chattanooga.
