A witness testified Tuesday that Demetrius Carson tagged him with a Facebook threat after he testified that Jermichael "Blue Light" Brooks had shot him and another youth.
Ladarius Nollie, who was initially in critical condition after a drive-by shooting last Aug. 23, said he did not personally know Carson, but is aware of who he is.
Det. Andrew Peker said Carson added a comment on a Channel 3 Internet article about Nollie testifying. He said the Carson post said, "Knock his a-- off if he talks to polices. Free Blue Light."
He also said Carson could be seen on Facebook posing with three different handguns.
Defense attorney Larry Ables said the initial part of the post is from the song "Decent" by Frank White, part of which he played in court.
He said Carson has "a First Amendment right to post" his comments.
Prosecutor Cameron Williams said the comment amounted to the charge of solicitation of murder.
He said it is sometimes difficult to get individuals to come to court - especially if their lives are threatened.
Bond was initially $3,000 for Carson, which attorney Ables said was agreed to by the prosecutor. Judge Lila Statom called it "unbelievably low in a case of this nature."
After prosecutor Williams spoke to her at the bench off the record, she raised the bond to $5,000.
