Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga’s “Housing Heroes for 25 years” celebration is set for Saturday and Sunday. There will be three main events, a volunteer brunch, Red Hot Red Striped Gala, and birthday party/family reunion.
The Volunteer Brunch (closed to the public) will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. THe Red HOt Red Striped Gala (open to the public) will be held Saturday with a VIP cocktail hour at 6 p.m. adn the main program at 7 p.m. Both Saturday events are held at the Chattanooga Convention Center.
On Sunday at noon will be a birthday party/family reunion (open to the public) held at the Ronald McDonald House.
The goal is not only to celebrate a successful 25 years at RMHC of Greater Chattanooga, but mainly to raise enough funds to burn (payoff) the mortgage. By burning the mortgage, the House will essentially be debt-free and plans can begin to build a new Ronald McDonald Family Room inside the proposed Children’s Hospital coming in the near future to Erlanger.
The Ronald McDonald House first opened its doors on Nov. 18, 1990 and since then, has helped 10,802 families find a “home away from home” while their child was sick. This weekend’s 25-hour-long event will highlight the Chattanooga community, RMHC families, volunteers, and influential leaders and supporters who’ve made the House as successful as it is today. Jimmy Murray, RMHC founder and former GM of the Philadelphia Eagles will be speaking at the volunteer brunch and Red Hot Red Striped Gala. The first family to stay at the House, the Bailer family, will also be at the Gala.
