Lizie Jean Couey, 84, of Decatur, Tennessee, died on Friday, November 13, 2015 at her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Cecil Howard; husband, Paul Couey; son, Randall Couey; granddaughter, Amy Roxanna Lewis; son-in-law, Boyd “Whistle“ Guffey; four sisters, Willie Womack, Tip Long, Rose Scroggins and Edna Shaver; and two brothers, Junior Howard and Ronnie Howard.

Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Charlene (Dave) Withrow, Joan (Marvin) Lewis, Brenda Guffey and Tammy (Leslie) Jones, all of Decatur; seven brothers, Bud Howard, of Georgetown, Bo Howard, of Chattanooga, Ira Howard, of Decatur, Boss Howard, of Cleveland, Jessie Ray Howard, of Birchwood, Donnie Howard, of Cleveland and Pete Howard, of Decatur; sister, Christine Thompson, of Georgetown; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of good friends.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17 in the Bowers Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Beta Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 16 at the Bowers Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that you bring a donation of a blanket or canned food items.
