Zachary Barker
A man who allegedly threatened to shoot a Walmart employee who caught him stealing has been arrested after he fled in such a hurry that he left his ID at the store.
Authorities say that Zachary Barker, 24, was arrested after they spoke with the victim, Billy Roach, who works for Loss Prevention at Walmart.
He said that he saw a white male wearing a Tennessee hoodie take a bed sheet set from the store shelf and promptly take it to the customer service desk to “return” it for store credit.
The employee said he confronted the defendant after he completed the transaction and a struggle ensued during which the defendant allegedly reached down to the front pocket of his hoodie and said, “I have a gun and I will shoot you.”
Mr.
Roach said that at this point he pushed the defendant away and the defendant fell. He said that he heard what sounded like a weapon hit the floor.
The suspect then fled on foot and, upon reviewing store video of the incident, officers were able to corroborate the victim’s story.
Barker’s ID was found on the scene and he has been charged with aggravated assault and theft under $500.
