On Monday night at approximately 7:49 pm, HCSO deputies were notified that a white Ford crown victoria had become stuck on the railroad crossing at Bill Jones Road and Apison Pike after accidently running off the road. The female driver was helped out of the car by another female passerby to safety. No injuries were reported.

Deputies and Emergency Services immediately notified the railroad of the incident. However, before the message could be relayed successfully to an inbound train, the vehicle was struck at 7:59 pm.

There was extensive damage to the car but no one was injured.

The train was not carrying any hazardous materials, only coal.
The track line in that area will be closed for an unspecified amount of time while authorities check the track and remove the debris.
