Darrel Jones, 43, Shot And Killed On Central Avenue; Benson Critical In Another Of New Wave of Chattanooga Shootings

Darrel Jones, 43, was shot and killed on Central Avenue on Thursday afternoon.

Then, early Friday morning, 34-year-old Desmond Benson was shot, leaving him in critical condition. as a wave of new Chattanooga shootings continued over the Thanksgiving holidays. 

Chattanooga Police responded to the 3600 block of Central Avenue around 3 p.m. on a report of a shooting. They located a single victim, who succumbed to his injuries on scene.

Witnesses to the incident declined to cooperate with the investigation. Investigators continue to follow all credible leads.

In the second shooting that happened around 2 a.m., Chattanooga Police responded to the 3700 block of Cherryton Drive on reports of a person shot. 

There police located a victim suffering from a single gunshot wound.

The victim was transported emergency from there to a local hospital by Hamilton County EMS where he was receiving medical treatment for his injuries.

There was no suspect information provided to police in that case.

Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information regarding this crimes to call 423 698-2525. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
