Hamilton County Student Arrested After Posting Threatening Social Media Post

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was made aware on Thursday afternoon of a social media post concerning the safety and security of a local high school.
 
The information was made available from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
 
Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office School resource officers were notified and within just a few minutes, the person responsible for the post was identified as a student attending a Hamilton County high school. 
 
The student was detained and questioned by Hamilton County Sheriff's Office investigators.
The student has been charged with false reporting under TCA 39-16-502. 
 
Furthermore, the HCSO advises there is no viable threat to the school or the community as this time.
 
Due to the suspect in this case being a juvenile and the fact this incident is under investigation, no further information will be released.
