Reminding District 27 And Patsy Hazelwood Her “Elected” Stance On Expanding ObamaCare

  • Wednesday, February 4, 2015

Tuesday I had the opportunity to spend the day in Nashville listening to multiple committees discuss expanding TennCare (Medicaid) under the ACA (ObamaCare) law. Ironically this very issue has been taken up by Republicans, many who ran on promises of opposing any statewide ObamaCare or TennCare expansion.

Toward the end of the day another District 27 individual and I made our way to Rep. Hazelwood’s office and spoke with her about the Insure Tennessee legislation. During our 15 minute conversation we both left without a firm “yes” or “no” support and both had similar feelings that she was leaning on supporting it based primarily on her history with Governor Haslam.

Not doing my homework before the meeting I research her stance during the election on the way back to Hamilton County. According to the now defunct www.ElectPatsy.com you find the following statement for issue number 7: “Expansion of ObamaCare –I oppose the implementation of ObamaCare and the federal expansion of TennCare”. The website is easily seen through free webpage archives.

Some of us are familiar with both sides, “pros” and “cons” however the bigger picture is staying true to the promises that got you elected. I urge everyone in district 27 (Lookout Mountain to Sale Creek) to reach out to Representative Hazelwood and remind her of this stance she ran on and got elected with.
