Photographic Society Of Chattanooga's Youth Photography Showcase Winners Announced

The Photographic Society of Chattanooga honored the winners of its ninth annual Youth Photography Showcase on Friday, at St. John United Methodist Church. High school students from 15 high schools submitted prints and digital images for the contest in six categories: Architecture, People and/or Animals, Scapes, Photojournalism, Color Photographer's Choice, and Monochrome Photographer's Choice.

Schools participating were: Baylor School, Boyd-Buchanan, Center For Creative Arts, Chattanooga Christian School, School for Arts & Sciences, Dade County High School, East Hamilton High School, Home Schools, LaFayette High School, McCallie School, Ringgold High School, Silverdale Baptist Academy, Walker Valley High School, Academy Northwest, and Maine Central Institute.

In the Print Section, the Best of Show as Callie Hauss, a student at Chattanooga Christian School.  Other print winners were:

People and/or Animals:

First, Sydney Ibach, Chattanooga Christian School

Scapes:

First, Callie Hauss, Chattanooga Christian School

Photojournalism:

First, Beau Sahaj, McCallie School

Color Photographer's Choice:

First, Hunter Wall, McCallie School

Monochrome Photographer's Choice:

First , Louis Lu, McCallie School    

In the Digital Section, the Best of Show was by Emily Miller, a Home School student.  Digital First Place winners were:

First, Stephanie Van Horn, Chattanooga Christian School

First, Erika Lopez-Durel, Baylor School

In addition, the five top scoring photos from each school are sent to the Photographic Society of America to compete with students from across the nation and some from other countries.

Judges for the Youth Photography Showcase were: Mark Gilliland, Joe Reynolds, and Mickey Rountree.  Pat Gordy APSA, who serves with the Photographic of Chattanooga and the Photographic Society of America, is the coordinator of the event.
