Bud Stokes, 69, of Birchwood, TN, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga.
Bud was a son of the late Orlando and Zillie Sims Stokes and was retired from ADM Milling in Chattanooga, with 31 years of service. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a special friend to many. Bud was a faithful member of the Burdette Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joann Welch Stokes; a son, Jeffrey Stokes; and a grandson, Chris Howell.
Bud is survived by his wife of 36 years, Dorothy McDowell Stokes of Birchwood; daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Keith Bettis of Birchwood, TN, Kim and Brian Brown of Ooltewah, TN and Stephanie Watts of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Annie Stokes, Emily Howell, Destany Graham, Bailey Graham, Zack Brown, Chris Brown and Dustin Brown; a great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Gilbert; two sisters; two brothers; several nieces, nephews and extended family members; and a host of friends.
A Remembrance of Life Funeral Service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 27 at the Burdette Baptist Church, Birchwood, with the Reverend James A. Staton officiating. Interment will follow in the New McDonald Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 27 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
