Rape and assault charges have been dismissed in Criminal Court against a Chattanooga man allegedly posing as a U.S. Marine last September.
The dismissal was in the case of 27-year-old Robert "Bobby" Alan Bradshaw.
He was accused of driving a woman to his home and immediately telling her that he would kill her if she did not do exactly what he told her to.
She told police he began to repeatedly rape her while he held her throat.
Two days later, the victim said she went to talk to a friend at a downtown bar to get help contacting the police. While there, she said Bradshaw came up to her and hit her on the head, threatening to kill her if she reported the rape. Later that day, she identified Bradshaw out of a photo lineup.
During a preliminary hearing, the alleged victim collapsed while testifying.
A detective said the crime scene investigator used a light that showed there were substances on the bedding.
The defense painted the victim as a drug addict, who had filed a false police report in 2012 for a sexual crime.
