A man has been arrested in Catoosa County for the murder of the teen whose vehicle was involved in a wreck in North Chattanooga on Monday night.

Briston J. Smith, Jr., 18, was taken into custody at the home of a family member on Pinto Lane.

Smith was to  be charged with possession of marijuana for resale in Catoosa County and the murder of 19-year-old Charles Holsey in Hamilton County. His charges are felony murder, especially aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit especially aggravated robbery.

Police said they found a large amount of marijuana on him. Smith was at the home of a family member.

The wreck happened at the 700 block of North Market Street.

Investigators said Holsey was shot at 310 Sylvan St. during a drug transaction. He apparently got into his car and drove off after being shot. Holsey hit another vehicle, but the driver of that car was not seriously hurt.
