Roper Corporation needs to fill a number of full-time 1st and 2nd shift production operator positions. Dot Troyer, HR specialist at the Lafayette cooking appliance manufacturer, says the company needs to fill about 80 new positions brought on by increasing production volumes, as well as more than 100 positions resulting from normal attrition over the past few months.
The company will be taking applications at the Georgia Department of Labor office in Lafayette from 9 a.m.-noon on Saturday. Mr. Troyer says the Saturday job fair should be more convenient for job seekers who cannot attend a weekday job fair because they already have a job. “Many of the people who apply to work at Roper Corporation, especially those who are already working elsewhere, tell us they want a job with a steady work schedule and great benefits. We offer both,” says Mr. Troyer.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and will need to show proof of a high school diploma or GED when they apply. They will also need to show a valid driver’s license or state-issued ID and a non-laminated Social Security Card. Qualified applicants will be subject to a background check and drug screening as part of the hiring processes.
The Lafayette office of the Georgia Department of Labor is located at 200 West Villanow St. Their phone number is 706-638-5525.
Roper Corporation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of GE Appliances. The company currently employs more than 1,600 people at its Lafayette facility, producing electric and gas cooking appliances under the GE, GE Profile, Café, and Monogram labels.
