Arthur James Van AlstyneJr., 86, of Chickamauga, Georgia, died on Saturday, April 11, 2015.

He was born in Pittsburgh, and had resided in Northwest Georgia for the past three years. He was a longtime resident of Aiken, S.C., and was a retired professor from the University of South Carolina at Aiken where he taught for over 30 years. He was of the Presbyterian faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Van Alstyne and mother, Wilma Van Alstyne.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Abigail Van Alstyne of Chickamauga; grandchildren, Christopher, Robert, Kathryn, and great-grandchild, Jillian.

The family plans to have a private memorial service.

Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Homes – LaFayette Chapel.
