County Schools To Make Budget Pitch To County Commission On Wednesday Afternoon

The Hamilton County Schools will make a budget pitch to the County Commission on Wednesday at 3 p.m. during the annual budget hearings.

Supt. Rick Smith is seeking $34 million in new funding, which would require a 40-cent property tax increase.

The School Board voted 7-2 in favor of supporting the request.

Supt. Smith spoke at a series of district meetings to try to build a case for the increased funding.

The budget hearings start at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Finance Director Al Kiser said only departments and agencies who are seeking budget increases will need to appear before the Commission.

Among those not on the list are new Criminal Court Clerk Vince Dean and new Circuit Court Clerk Larry Henry.

Criminal Court Judges Barry Steelman, Don Poole and Rebecca Stern

Soil Conservation

District Attorney Neal Pinkston

Sheriff Jim Hammond

Sheriff Narcotics Enforcement Division

Tennessee State Sexual Offenders
