Englewood Woman Dies In Boating Accident On Tellico Lake

Evelyn Katrina Spurling of Englewood, Tn. died as a result of a boating incident on Tellico Lake on Saturday.

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) officers responded to a call on Tellico Lake in Monroe County at approximately 6:40 p.m. Initial calls regarding the incident were taken by the Monroe County Sherriff’s Department. Ms. Spurling was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, where she died.

The incident involved a ski boat and personal water craft collision. Ms. Spurling was a passenger on the personal watercraft. She and the operator were wearing personal flotation devices. No physical injuries were sustained by others involved in the incident.

TWRA officers remained on the scene investigating the incident until approximately 2 a.m. According to Officer Kip Kite, the incident is still under investigation.
