Woman, 87, Killed In Wreck Near Trion, Ga., After Her Car Crosses The Center Line

Funeral services will be Wednesday for an 87-year-old Trion, Ga., killed in a wreck near Trion on Sunday afternoon.

The Georgia Highway Patrol said Vesta Marie Grindstaff crossed the center line on Georgia Highway 1 and struck a car driven by William Locklear head-on.

Ms. Grindstaff died at the scene.

Mr. Locklear was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

 Ms. Grindstaff was a retired medical records technician for Ozark Mental Health, and a member of Summerville First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her son and spouse, Jim and Patti Grindstaff of Trion; grandsons and spouses, James IV & Melissa Grindstaff and Jada Ryan & Cheryl Grindstaff; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Nolen, Allison and Wyatt Grindstaff; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. from the Summerville First United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Pinson officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Knoll Cemetery. 

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 p.m. until the hour of service at the Church.
