  • Monday, June 22, 2015

Rep. Ron Travis, representing the 31st District, has released the names of grant award recipients from the Tennessee Arts Commission for Fiscal Year 2016 (July 1, 2015–June 30, 2016) in his district. This is the first of a series of grants that will be made throughout FY2016.

These include: Main Street Dayton and Valley Fest, Inc.

“I am very pleased to announce these investments in our non-profit organizations and schools for arts programming,” said Rep. Travis. “Arts and culture positively impact communities all across our state, including improving quality of life, adding to our state’s economy and helping to provide a more balanced education for our children.”

“Tennessee is very fortunate to have elected leaders who support our communities through investments in arts and cultural assets,” said Anne B. Pope, executive director of the Tennessee Arts Commission.

According to Ms. Pope, the Tennessee Arts Commission will award approximately 1,000 grants during Fiscal Year 2016, totaling more than $5.3 million. These funds have a direct impact on communities across Tennessee, in both urban and rural areas. Grant categories include Arts Access, Arts Education, Arts Project Support, Partnership Support, Individual Artist Fellowships, Major Cultural Institutions, Cultural Education Partnership and Rural Arts Partnership.

The Commission’s allocations process involves a review by citizen advisory panels made up of Tennesseans with expertise in appropriate arts disciplines and a review by the full 15-member Tennessee Arts Commission.

Other grant opportunities are offered throughout the year with rolling deadlines for qualifying organizations and individuals. They include grants for Arts Build Communities, Arts Education Teacher Incentives, Student Ticket Subsidy, Technical Assistance, Special Opportunities and Professional Development. Additional information on grant programs offered by the Tennessee Arts Commission is available at tnartscommission.org.

The Tennessee Arts Commission is the state arts agency whose mission is to cultivate the arts for the benefit of all Tennesseans and their communities.
