Special Event Street Closures Announced For The Weekend

Here are special event street closings for the weekend:

Friday:  

Nightfall will take place from 5:30 p.m. until 11 p.m.  Market Street from 10th Street to 8th Street will be closed; Martin Luther King Boulevard from Broad Street to Georgia Avenue will be closed, and Cherry Street from ML King to 8th Street will be closed.

Reggie White Boulevard will be closed from the entrance to the skate park to 19th Street for the Man Xpo.  Closure will be from 8:30 a.m. on Friday until 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.  For more information visit http://timesfreepressevents.com/manxpo/2015

 

Saturday:

The Color the Curve after Dark event will take place at Coolidge Park.  The race will go through both Coolidge and Renaissance Parks.  The right lane on eastbound Frazier Avenue will be closed as well as Walnut Street from the end of the bridge to 3rd Street.  Please watch for runners and posted detours along the route.  The race starts at 9 p.m. with closures expected from approximately 8 p.m. until 10 p.m.  For more information visit http://www.colorthecurve.com/after-dark/  

 

Sunday:

Reggie White Boulevard will be closed from the entrance to the skate park to 19th Street for the Chattanooga Market.  Closure will be from 6:00 am until 8:00 pm.  For more information, visit http://chattanoogamarket.com/

 

The Chattanooga Waterfront Triathlon will also take place on Sunday. Closure of Riverfront Parkway, from Power Alley to Chestnut Street will begin on Saturday, at 8 a.m. Additional closures will begin on Sunday at 4 a.m.  Roads should be re-opened by approximately 5 p.m. on Sunday. 

 

Riverfront Parkway, from Molly Lane to Aquarium Way, will be closed.  The off ramp from Veterans Bridge to Riverfront Parkway will be closed.  Runners will use the Riverwalk down to Curtain Pole Road, and the return to Riverfront Parkway and Ross’s Landing.

 

The bike course will travel west on Riverfront Parkway toward ML King Boulevard.  Bikers will ride on Highway 27, the northbound on-ramp at ML King will be closed as well as the East ML King off-ramp from southbound Highway 27.  All northbound cars traveling on Highway 27 must exit at ML King to allow bikers to enter the highway.  Bikers will ride on the left northbound lanes up to Highway 153 where they will turn around and continue in the left southbound lane of Highway 27.  All southbound traffic on Highway 27 must exit at 4th Street and re-enter at ML King.  Please follow posted detours and watch for bikers on the highway and side streets.
