The County Commission on Wednesday voted 6-3 to override County Mayor Jim Coppinger's veto of the budget resolution.

The same six commissioners who voted to override the county mayor's veto, also last Wednesday voted to pull $900,000 out of the rainy day fund to continue the use of discretionary money. They are Chairman Jim Fields, Tim Boyd, Warren Mackey, Chester Bankston, Sabrena Smedley and Randy Fairbanks.

Again voting in opposition were Joe Graham, Greg Beck and Marty Haynes.

There was no discussion prior to the vote.

County Mayor Coppinger had signed the veto on Monday at a press conference, calling the commissioners "fiscally irresponsible" for putting the spending back into the budget and taking it from savings.

Each of the commissioners has $100,000 per year to spend on projects of their choosing.
