Hamilton Heights announced today that Abu Kigab, the North Pole Hoops #1 ranked player in the class of 2017 will be transferring to the Hawks program for the 2015-2016 academic year.

Kigab, ranked #2 by Hoops Hype Canada in the 2017 class, is a 6-foot-6-inch guard playing for Adidas UPLAY Canada on the grass roots circuit.

Kigab, as a 16-year-old, recently competed in the Under 19 FIBA international tournament in Greece for Canada, which placed fifth in the world games.

He is currently playing for Canada at the Nike Global Challenge Event in Chicago, IL. He had 10 points and 7 rebounds in the first game versus the U.S. Midwest team.

The Hawks have two other players at the games. Abdul Ado, the 2016 post player is playing with the Pan Africa team, and Joan Duran, a 2015 graduate is playing with the Dominican Republic.

Kigab joins the Hoops Hype Canada #17-ranked player from Canada, point guard, Shai Alexander at Hamilton Heights.

The Hawks’ head coach, Zach Ferrell, said of the Kigab decision, “We are more than excited about the addition of Abu to the Hamilton Heights family. Abu is an outstanding leader that will not only bring incredible assets to our basketball program, but also our school.

Kigab has received an offer from Virginia Tech of the ACC conference, and is being heavily courted by Tennessee, Oregon, Georgia Tech, Iowa, Nebraska, Louisville, and Dayton.
