Bridgit Mckenzie Hightower
Bridgit Mckenzie Hightower, 22, was arrested on Wednesday for her role in the robbery of her ex-boyfriend.
The victim, Don Fugate, 40, told responding officers that he and the defendant planned to meet at the downtown library to discuss possibly getting back together. While they were speaking, a man came up behind the victim and placed him in a chokehold.
Mr. Fugate said that this man then told the defendant to go through the victim’s pockets and take whatever he had. The defendant removed Mr. Fugate’s wallet, cellphone, and backpack before fleeing with the man in an unknown direction. The victim also identified the suspect as a man named Adrian, saying that he thought him to be 29-years-old.
The victim also advised that the defendant works at Moe’s and would most likely be there the following day.
The defendant was taken into custody on Thursday after another officer was dispatched to Miller Park on the report of another possible robbery.
During an interview, Ms. Hightower said she was present during the robbery and that she did remove items from the victim’s pockets while he was being choked. She also said that the stolen property had been thrown away in Miller Park.
She also identified the other suspect as Adrian Sims and the victim picked Sims out of a photo lineup before going and finding some of his property inside garbage cans in Miller Park.
Hightower’s bond has been set at $40,000.
