Free Admission Day At Sequoyah Birthplace Museum Sunday

Sequoyah Birthplace Museum in Vonore, Tn. will be celebrating Sequoyah Remembrance Day and Sequoyah’s contribution to the Cherokee people by creating a writing system, the Cherokee Syllabary with free admission to the museum from 12-5 p.m. on Sunday.  

The 1809 Cherokee Blacksmith shop will be up and running with demonstrations all through the afternoon by Will McAlister.  Local demonstrator Tonya Dockery, will be demonstrating corn husk dolls and Gary Holt will be talking about the Cherokees in the Civil War in our 1800’s dog-trot log cabin.
