The Chattanooga Women’s Leadership Institute has announced 15 women participating in the 8th Annual Women Mentoring Women program.

The Women Mentoring Women program is designed to help women develop or sharpen their mentoring skills and to assist them in giving back to the community by mentoring other women. The program consists of eight 2-hour sessions led by recognized women in the community who will present on topics such as the use of power, authority, and influence in the workplace, team building, understanding communication styles, and political savviness. The goal is to encourage women to utilize their talents and experience to help increase the presence of women in positions of civic and business leadership within the community.

This initiative began in August 2008, and has graduated over 100 women from a variety of business backgrounds in the greater Chattanooga area. The participants for this year include Kathryn (Katie) King of EPB; Claudia Goldbach, GPS; Christine Ryder, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tn.; Angela Stoudemire, Volkswagen Group; Carmen Davis, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tn.; Cassandra Nice, UTC Women's Center; Brittney King, UTC Counseling; Daisy Maurya-Smith, Parkridge; Shannan Swafford, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tn.; Rachel Schulson, A Step Ahead Chattanooga; Nel Reid, Chattanooga Public Library; Khara Lounsbury, HHM; Sheryl Jenkins, EPB; Erica Verdin, Healthways; and Cynthia Brown, Flowers Bakery.

“We are very excited to have such a diverse group of women leaders participating in this year’s Women Mentoring Women program,” said Mical Traynor, CWLI executive director. “I am confident these women will use the information they learn in this program to not only achieve great success for themselves, but to help other women do the same.”
