Chattanooga Magazine Is Acquired By Southern Publishers Group

  • Wednesday, August 12, 2015

Chattanooga Magazine has been acquired by locally-owned Southern Publishers Group. The transitional efforts are being led by Chris Thomas and Melissa Siragusa, who are most well-known for their leadership and revitalization of the Chattanooga Market.  Debbie Petticord, the magazine’s former owner, will remain on staff as editor and focus her experience and talents on revitalizing the flagship brand.

“It was very important to us that Chattanooga Magazine remain a Chattanooga-based, Chattanooga-owned and Chattanooga-oriented publication,” said Mr. Thomas.  Ms. Siragusa agrees, “We have always loved the look and feel of the magazine format, and Debbie has always been a great partner for us at the Market.  We plan to add a lot of new energy to the publication, but perhaps with even more focus on the people and destinations which really make Chattanooga a special place to live, work and visit.”

Current subscribers will receive a complimentary one-year extension, and an online customer service portal will be launched soon for new subscribers.

Southern Publishers Group will continue to publish and grow Chattanooga Magazine in its current bimonthly print format, but will be introducing new technologies to modernize the reader experience in the upcoming months.

“We are officially Chattanooga’s oldest startup,” said Mr. Thomas. “The first 25 years were a great trial period, now we are looking forward to rebuilding everything from the ground-up and unveiling the next generation of media publishing.”
