Ministry Group Still Working To Help Those Displaced At The Superior Creek Lodge

  • Tuesday, September 15, 2015

Metropolitan Ministries says its staff continues their work to stabilize those displaced by the Superior Creek Lodge closing in East Ridge.

Almost 1,500 individuals were in need of a new home after East Ridge inspectors said the four buildings at the extended stay by Exit 1 were structurally unsound.

After the joint service fair in East Ridge on Monday, MetMin has spent a total of $31,411.05.

Officials said, "That $31,000 + means that 183 adults and 124 children will not be sleeping on the streets. They will have the dignity of a place to go until they can get a place of their own.  $25,000 of that came from the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga. We want to them, and several private donors, for making it possible for us to do what we do in a moment of crisis."

Anna Katharine Horne, stability navigator at Metropolitan Ministries, said,  “The rug has been ripped out from under these families, but we’re committed to seeing them through the crisis and into permanent housing. No matter how long that takes, we’ll be here to help.

"Until these people have the stability they had before the Superior Creek closing, MetMin’s work is still needed."

Those willing to donate to help MetMin further their assistance, can do so at www.met-min.org.
