The HCSO Criminal Investigation Division made a presentment to the Hamilton County Grand Jury on Monday in reference to the event which occurred at Silverdale-CCA on Aug. 15, involving Corrections Officer Daniel Hendrix.
The Hamilton County Grand Jury on Thursday returned a true bill concerning this event charging Corrections Officer Daniel Hendrix with misdemeanor assault.
The incident occurred at Silverdale-CCA on Saturday, Aug. 15, at 9:20 p.m. between HCSO Deputy Daniel Hendrix and a female inmate, Leslie M. Hayes, who was being transported to CCA from the jail.
Inmate Hayes was combative during the transport and in the booking/intake area of CCA where the altercation between the two occurred. Inmate Hayes was being transported to CCA from the jail on an outstanding fugitive warrant out of Sessions Court.
Hendrix has been arrested and processed in the Hamilton County Jail and released on a bond. His status will be changed to administrative leave without pay pending the conclusion of the judicial process and the conclusion of the internal affairs investigation.
Sheriff Hammond said, “The HCSO takes all allegations of misconduct seriously. We have followed the judicial process and presented our investigation to the grand jury and henceforth, they have returned a true bill.”
There will be no further information released pending the conclusion of the judicial process and the pending internal affairs investigation.
