Tennessee American Water Conducts Annual Flushing Program

Routine Maintenance Of Water Mains And Fire Hydrants

  • Monday, September 28, 2015

Tennessee American Water will be conducting its annual flushing program beginning the week of Sept. 28-Oct. 9.

Flushing the water distribution system entails sending a rapid flow of water through the water mains to clear out mineral deposits and sediments that may have built up over time inside the water distribution pipes.  As part of the flushing program, crews will check and operate fire hydrants to help ensure fire protection in the community.

While the flushing program is underway, customers may experience a temporary drop in water pressure or discoloration for a short period of time.  If this occurs, customers should simply let the water run briefly, and the situation should clear up on its own within a few minutes.

Calls to inform customers about the flushing were made to the current phone number on file.
If customers have any questions or need additional information, they are encouraged to visit www.tennesseeamwater.com or contact Tennessee American Water’s customer service center 24-hours a day, seven days a week at 866.736-6420.
