Ivy Academy is one of Hamilton County’s public charter schools currently in its seventh year of operation. Ivy Academy plans to host its 3rd annual fundraiser coined ‘Running with Sasquatch’, a 5k Fun Run Trail Race on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 9 a.m. The funds raised will directly benefit the educational offerings for Ivy Academy students. Attendees can register as individuals and in groups. Those interested in sponsorship or donations, please contact the Race Liaison. Those interested in registering for the race, please visit http://bit.ly/RunningWithSasquatch.
“Attendees are welcome to leisurely hike the trails, but for those who plan on running competitively the goal of the race is to out run our local Sasquatch. If this happens, crowning glory of “Whooping Sas” and a t-shirt will be given at the finish line. Considering the race is on Halloween morning this year, attendees are welcome to come in costume and compete for ‘Best Costume’. The race is guaranteed to be an enjoyable morning on the trails, while also supporting the great efforts of an innovative school”, said Molly Wilkins, Race Liaison and special education teacher at Ivy Academy.
Ivy Academy has partnered with local outdoor retailer, Rock/Creek, as official presenter of this year’s race. Rock/Creek is a leader in the area for outdoor recreation apparel and gear, as well as spearheading their local trail series.
