Barbara Jean Varnell, 71, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away Thursday morning, September 3, 2015 in a Chattanooga hospital.
She owned and operated Bobba’s Daycare Center in her home for 15 years and was a well known beautician for 25 years. Her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, ceramics, playing piano, singing and she was an avid card and bingo player. She was a member of North Cleveland Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Wilken and Virginia Trotter Wilken; and brothers, Bill Wilken, Jim Wilken and Ed Wilken.
Survivors include her husband, David Varnell Sr. of Cleveland; son, Larry Varnell Jr and son-in-law, Steve Hawkins of Chattanooga; Virginia K. “Ginger” Varnell of Cleveland; one sister, Louise Terry of Johnson City; four brothers, Thomas Lyle of Johnson City, Bob Branche of Chattanooga, Jack Branch of Granite City, IL and Carl Branch of Valdese, NC; special friends, Betty Martin, Pam Lawson and Kim Cook; special son, David Bowman; special grandson, Jacob Cook; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6 in the chapel Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Jay McCluskey and Pastor Dave Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
Her family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Fike Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
