Jon Laymon, 36, Dies After Car Hits Salt Spreader On Dupont Parkway On Friday

Jon L. Laymon, 36, has died, from being severely injured after hitting a salt spreader late Friday night.

At 10:34 p.m. on Friday, Chattanooga Police Traffic Investigators were dispatched to 400 DuPont Parkway on an accident with serious injuries involving a Chattanooga city vehicle.

A city of Chattanooga Public Works vehicle was struck in the rear by a Chrysler PT Cruiser. The driver of the Chrysler suffered serious life-threatening injuries, and was transported to an area hospital by HCEMS. 

The investigation is ongoing.

Police said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when the wreck happened around 10:30 p.m.

The driver of the salt truck was not hurt.
