  • Tuesday, October 11, 2016
The Comcast Foundation announced Tuesday that it has awarded more than $47,000 in grants to 16 nonprofit organizations in East Tennessee in 2016.

The organizations receiving the grants participated in the 15th annual ‘Comcast Cares Day’ this past April. Comcast Cares Day, which takes place each April during National Volunteer Month, is Comcast and NBCUniversal’s signature day of service and the nation’s largest single-day corporate volunteer effort.

In East Tennessee, hundreds of volunteers assisted with various community projects including park and trail clean-ups, school and playground improvements, blood drives, digital literacy activities and clean-up days at local non-profits.

“Comcast is thrilled to award these grants to our deserving partner organizations that strengthen our communities each and every day,” said Valerie Gillespie, Comcast area vice president.
