Two Chattanooga youths have been charged in a carjacking that occurred in Knoxville last Thursday.

Charged after the stolen vehicle was spotted by a police officer in Chattanooga were Brandon Moates, 18, and Elijah Springs, 19.

Knoxville Police said two men approached a man at 7:15 a.m. who was getting money out of an ATM at the Home Federal Bank on Merchant Drive. One of the robbers was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun.

They took money from the man and fled in his Nissan pickup truck.

After the officer in Chattanooga started chasing the truck last Friday, it sped off and then crashed into another vehicle. The pair fled, but they were located by Chattanooga Police later.
