James “Cheese” Clayton Goins, 84, of Ringgold, Georgia, died on Monday November 21, 2016.

A native of Athens, Tn., he had lived in the Ringgold area for most of his life. James was a former employee of Sweetwater Rug Company where he worked for 14 years and was of the Baptist faith.

He wass preceded in death by his parents, Campbell Duck and Mary Ann Burton Goins; two sons, Charles and Gary Goins; two sisters, Betty Roden and Inez Peeler; and five brothers, Virgil, Bo, Henry, Bob and Bill Goins.

He is survived by six children, Debbie Tweed of Chattanooga, Teresa Goins of Ringgold, Jimmy Goins of Ringgold, Janice Wint of Rock Spring, Carolyn Goins of East Ridge, and Lisa Goins of Ringgold; sister, Sally Wilcox of Athens; 19 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25, in the funeral home chapel with Brother Dennis Goins officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Nov. 23, from 3-8 p.m., and Friday, from 9 a.m. until funeral time at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home Wallis-Stewart Chapel, Ringgold.
