A home was destroyed by fire on Thanksgiving night in Ooltewah.

A man awoke to the smell of smoke in his home. At 8:07 p.m., a 911 call was made reporting the fire at 5525 Twin Oaks Drive. The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department responded and reported 80% of the house was involved. Once firefighters confirmed everyone was out of the house, firefighters conducted a defensive attack to contain the fire to the one structure.

No injuries were reported but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene for any potential injuries to the firefighters. The Highway 58 VFD also responded to assist Tri-Community with additional manpower. The Catoosa County FD and East Ridge FD staged in Tri-Community Fire Hall for any emergency calls in the district.

The house is a total loss and damages are listed at $175,000. The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Tri-Community Fire Marshall's Office. The American Red Cross responded to assist the homeowner with his immediate needs.
