  • Monday, November 28, 2016

The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public’s help with identifying a woman who took a cell phone that was left behind by accident at a local store. The woman and the two people she was with were recorded by the store’s surveillance system.

The incident happened on Friday at TJ Maxx on Walnut Avenue shortly after 7 p.m. While making a purchase, the victim in this case left her cell phone on the counter by accident. After she walked out of the store, a woman with dark, shoulder length hair wearing a green jacket picked up the phone and walked out with it. She arrived at the store and left with two other people, a white female with blonde hair and a white male with short dark hair. All three people were recorded by the store’s surveillance system.

The victim’s cell phone was turned off right after it was taken from the store. The stolen phone is a white Samsung Galaxy S5 in an Otter Box case. There was a folded up piece of paper inside the Otter Box case with the name of the victim’s “secret Santa” written on it.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect or the two people she was with is asked to contact Detective Brian Shirley at 706-278-9085, dial 9 and enter extension 189.
